REGIONAL REVIEWS 2007
ITC orchestrated three Dialogues during the
2007 regional reviews organized by WTO in cooperation with the
Regional Developments Banks with the
private sector to reflect, deliberate and underline the latter’s
critical role in Aid for Trade.
The Dialogues served to examine the specific needs of the private
sector, how the aid for trade initiative should address these needs,
and how priorities should be established, in the following three
areas:
-
The private sector as advocate in trade
policy-making and for creating a
business friendly environment;
-
The private sector as partner in design,
financing and execution of infrastructure
projects;
-
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
overcoming supply side constraints to
take advantage of the opportunities of trade liberalization
