    WELCOME TO ITC

The following document provides background information on ITC, the UN and life in Geneva.   We would recommend you take the time to read it: Welcome to ITC.  We would welcome your feedback and suggestions for making this module more valuable for future newcomers.  If you have any problem in accessing any of the links please let us know so that we can rectify the problem.

    Practical Information on Geneva

To help you and your family to settle in to the area information on Geneva and neighbouring France is available via the following sources:

The ITC Welcome to Geneva guide was developed in 2005 to help newcomers and their families settle into Geneva as quickly and smoothly as possible. Please be aware that some information may no longer be fully up to date. If you have any suggestions to include for the future please let us know.

A free guide in French 'Le renard sur la lune,' giving useful addresses in the Geneva area on eating, shops, cultural activities, well being etc. This is available from the public transport ticket office at the Cornavin rail station.

Another useful book for newcomers is the Know-it-all Passport guide for English-speakers in the Geneva, Vaud, and neighboring French areas. This is available from major bookshops and other outlets in Geneva (see their web site for a list of addresses).  Two copies of this are now available for loan in the library, and one with the HR staff administration team, should you wish to borrow or refer to one.  Know-it-all now have a web site  to keep you up-to-date with the very latest information: events calandar, news update, useful links etc.

New staff members may wish to refer to the guide on General Information on Benefits and Entitlements and to the table below on the comparative benefits of Living in France / Switzerland.
