    UNCTAD

ITC, UNCTAD and WTO have been tasked with monitoring progress towards one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) - MDG8: develop a global partnership for development.  The monitoring is accessible via the www.mdg-trade.org website, designed to provide market access indicators data for LDCs. All three agencies provide the data for these indicators so that the website will make this information more transparent and widely available.

ITC’s project on Non Tariff Measures (NTMs), was also created with the direct involvement of UNCTAD and the WTO. The project increases transparency and understanding of NTMs by collaborating closely with ministries, export promotion agencies, research institutes, business associations and local experts  in each country. An example of joint work with our partners under this project is ITC’s contribution to the development of a classification system for some 240 NTMs, led by UNCTAD.

ITC also plays an active role in reinforcing UNCTAD's Empretec programme, which is designed to promote the creation of sustainable, innovative and internationally competitive SMEs. One example of our collaboration is the work carried out by the Empretec network with ITC’s Modular Learning System on Supply Chain Management (MLS-SCM).
