Rooibos tea producers set strategic plan in motion - March 2012
Rooibos tea industry leaders decided at an export marketing workshop in Stollenbosh to develop a strategic plan for South Africa’s Rooibos industry that will guide the industry's development, including its efforts of export diversification. They also agreed to prospect new markets. The NTF II project will serve as a catalyst and support initial steps to gain a better understanding of the requirements of one of these markets and how best to position Rooibos tea. Industry leaders and key stakeholders will work together to develop a strategic information system to facilitate a more coordinated and cohesive approach to markets. These initiatives are supported by the Department of Agriculture and Department of Trade and industry (DTI), South Africa.
