Former executive director leaves Geneva for new role as foreign minister of Spain

GENEVA – The staff of the International Trade Centre (ITC) has expressed its warmest gratitude to Ms. Arancha González for her six-and-a-half-year leadership of the organization after she was appointed foreign minister of Spain on 13 January 2020.

Ms. González served as Executive Director of ITC, a joint development agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation, since September 2013. Her tenure was marked by a strengthening of the organization’s strategic priorities to connect micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to international markets, a focus on greater thought leadership around trade issues and an emphasis on the economic empowerment of women.

Ms. Dorothy Tembo, Deputy Executive Director, assumed the role of Executive Director ad interim upon the departure of Ms. González.
