ITC won the 2002 prize of the Fondation Jean Bastin for its legal guide to trade financing for international trade. A jury of academics, trade finance specialists and lawyers selected Financements et garanties dans le commerce international: Guide juridique ("Finance and guarantees in international trade: A legal guide") from several dozen other publications.

The foundation addressed the prize first to the book's author, G. Affaki, an ITC consultant and a Vice-Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce's Commission on Banking Technique and Practice, and also to ITC for conceiving, designing and publishing the guide. ITC received the prize at the foundation's headquarters in Brussels. The Fondation Jean Bastin is an international scientific foundation that supports research into credit insurance and guarantees, and seeks to extend their use, especially in developing countries. ITC and the foundation have often cooperated to organize information and training workshops and to publish books.

The guide, produced jointly by ITC's trade finance and trade law units, is currently available in French only. An English edition will be published shortly.
