Are non-organic seeds allowed in organic farming?
Organic farming implies that the farmers should use
organically produced seed. EU member countries have established
online databases, where suppliers of seed can register organic seed
and seed potatoes, which they want to put on the market. If there
is no seed available of the species which an organic farmer wants
to grow, or if there is no appropriate variety available, the
farmer can ask the certification body for a derogation to use
non-organically produced seed.
