    China: Training of local resource staff and policymakers in market analysis, food safety and trade promotion.

    Project Objective

    The project supports Chongqing’s trade development by building local capacities in market analysis and research for policy makers as well as representatives from the private sector and trade support institutions. In addition, the project will raise awareness of global food safety standards and will build capacities to implement effective food safety management systems in order to enhance international competitiveness for Chongqing’s agricultural exports. During the implementation phase of the project government priorities with respect to trade promotion and development will be ascertained and trade intelligence will be gathered. The findings will build the basis to develop an ITC response to address further TRTA needs during a second phase of the cooperation framework and expressed partly in COFTEC's "10 1" proposal submitted as a follow-up to the WEDF in Chongqing, China.
