ELICO was established in August 1997 as the leather wing of MIDROC Ethiopia to manage and operate two tanneries and a leather garment and leather goods manufacturing factory that were acquired from the Ethiopian Privatization Agency.Production and export of finished sports and dress gloving leather from sheepskin, finished shoe upper from goat and sheepskin, finished goat suede, and cow hide crust. The export sales make up 75% of ELICO's revenue.Finished shoe upper from cowhide, sheep finished lining, finished sheep garment, goat finished lining, leather garment, leather goods and small leather articles. Domestic sale constitutes 25% of ELICO's sales.

ELICO seeks a techno-commercial partner in order to manufacture high class leather goods and garments for the export market.
The techno-commercial partner is expected to come with the required technology and marketing network. ELICO will be responsible for all the investment and for supplying the labour and leather also. Any type of leather (sheep, goat and cow) can be produced and supplied by tanneries under ELICO. The techno-commercial partner should be reputed company with a good and reliable track record in the leather goods/garments manufacture.
